Hung Hing Ying Building
Although originally a Students Union Building in 1919, this Edwardian-style landmark has also lived through many guises. As one of the earliest buildings of the University, it was briefly the main administrative building after the Secord World War, and was later converted into the Senior Common Room for staff in 1974. It now houses the Department of Music.
Main Building (Loke Yew Hall)
Build in 1910, it was originally conceived in the Post-Renaissance style with two courtyards, in a then prevalent red brick and granite construction. it boasts the former Great Hall, now Loke Yew Hall, which has witnessed some of the most important ceremonies in the Universitys history. The Building was declared a historic monument in 1984.
Main Library
It is unlikely that there is any HKU student who has not had some experience with the Main Library! The Library is famous for its Hong Kong Collection, the Rare Books Room, as well as the Knowledge Navigation Centre. It houses over 2 million volumes.
Graduate House
Graduate House is designed by Rocco Yim of Rocco Design Limited, a graduate from the Department of Architecture at HKU, who has established himself as one of the best designers in Hong Kong. The project is a mixed-used academic building which comprises distinct functions: a dormitory for 210 graduate students, an amenities centre for the whole student body and a conference centre for the public.
